Het team van Bloemen Blavier wil ook zijn steentje bij te dragen aan een betere wereld…
Daarom dat we sinds 2012 reeds in zee gegaan zijn met KIVA, een organisatie die bezig is met microkredieten over de ganse wereld.

Kiva Microfunds (beter bekend onder zijn domeinnaam Kiva.org) is een non-profit organisatie waar mensen geld kunnen uitlenen via het internet aan mensen in ontwikkelingslanden door middel van Kivas 142 microfinanciering partners. Op de website staan de verhalen van de mensen die een lening willen en moet op die manier appelleren aan het gevoel van mensen om te helpen. Foto’s en beschrijvingen van persoonlijke omstandigheden helpen hierbij. Kiva zelf berekent geen rente door aan de mensen die deelnemen. Echter de microfinanciering partners doen dit wel. De organisatie wordt draaiende gehouden op basis van leningen, beursen en donaties van zowel bedrijven, particulieren en overheidsinstellingen

Wij willen als bloemenwinkel onze horizon verbreden en steunen daarom ook enkele projecten die specifiek rond bloemen draaien binnen KIVA. Daarom dat we een paar keren per jaar een percentage van onze verkoop in KIVA investeren en op zoek gaan naar nieuwe kredietmogelijkheden rond bloemen.

UPDATE 01/09/2017: De zomer van 2017 was er eentje vol bloemen …. voor elke gelegenheid, met een lach en een traan ….. Esperanza Del Carmen

Esperanza is a single mother and her children have already moved in with their partners. She studied up until Grade 2 since her parents only instilled the value of work when she was little.

Esperanza sells both natural and artificial flower arrangements. As well as this she sometimes sells atol. She starts work at 7am and finishes at 5pm.

Jalal

Sarafand, Lebanon / Agriculture
Jalal is a 21-year-old single man and a Syrian refugee who is working hard in the construction field specialized in cement work to cover the needs and expenses of his family that consists of five other members. He also works in the agricultural field as a second source of income. Today, he is acquiring a refugee loan from Kiva’s field partner Al Majmoua to buy seeds and maintain his green houses to increase his production. He hopes to stay capable of providing his family with better living conditions.

Aun’s Group

Living in a rural area of Kampong Cham province, Aun is 59 years old and a mother of six children – and only two of them are still dependent on her. To support her living, she earns income by growing rice for many years. She used to be a member of VisionFund twice already; and it has helped her to improve her living condition. Now she is leading a group of four members to apply for a loan, because of a shortage of working capital.
Aun is willing to manage her loan to buy seeds, organic fertilizers, and pay a plowing fee to improve her agriculture business. She believes this loan will help her to increase her income and improve her family’s well-being.

Reema

Marka, Jordan / Florist
Reema is a traveling flower sales woman. She is often found at wedding halls, exhibitions and flower stores. She has been in the business for three years and has had much luck in making an income. Along with the expenses she reserves for herself and her parents she is saving up to open a store. This will allow her to reach out further through out the country that has commended her arrangements. The matter that was taught to her by her brother who has an artistic touch. She is in need of a loan to buy more flowers to increase her sales.

Update 30/06/2017: het voorjaar is weer voorbij en we zijn verheugd dat we Gingelom en omgeving weer zo talrijk in de bloemen mochten zetten …. En net als elk voorjaar doneren we een bedrag van onze inkomsten aan collega’s in andere werelddelen die het niet zo gemakkelijk hebben …. bloemen Blavier, bloemen zoals wij samen ondersteunen.

Gulshanben

Morbi, India / Crafts
Gulshanben is a 50-year-old married woman from the Morbi district of Gujarat with a family of three. She wants to expand her artificial flower business to increase her monthly income and to support her family. She wants to purchase more materials like thread and baskets to make the flowers and then sell them in the local market. She requested a loan of INR 25,0000 from Milaap to buy these materials. She is thankful to all of her lenders.

Francisco

A loan of $1,500 helps to buy materials like paper, paint, wire, plastic, glue, etc. to make and sell floral arrangements.

Francisco was able to go to school until fifth grade. His partner earns a living selling flowers and they have three children, of whom only their daughter lives with them.

Francisco earns a living selling floral arrangements for all types of events. He has 10 years of experience and learned from his family. He also makes trips in his vehicle, which also serves him to sell the flowers. He works from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. and his daughter helps him.

He needs the loan to buy materials like paper, paint, wire, plastic, glue, etc. to make and sell floral arrangements. Francisco dreams of having a better business in the future and his loan will help him to start achieving his dream.

Genevieve

A loan of $250 helps to buy fertilizer for her ornamental plants selling business.

As a married parent of two children, Genevieve works hard to support her family. She has a business selling ornamental plants in the Philippines. She also earns additional income from a general store.

Genevieve is borrowing PHP 12,000 through NWTF to buy fertilizer for her ornamental plants selling business. She has been sustaining her business activities through her past seven loans from NWTF.

She hopes that her hard work will help her attain her dream to save enough to provide a secure future for her family.

Brian Aarón

La Unión, El Salvador / Decorations Sales

A loan of $500 helps to buy materials to make floral arrangements, so that with the earnings he can pay for school.

Brian is a young entrepreneur, who is currently in high school. He is single and lives with his parents. His mother works in business, and his father is a farmer.

Brian started a business arranging artificial flowers. He learned this trade when he worked with an aunt. His business is in his house, and he works after school.

He needs a loan to buy materials to make floral arrangements, so that with the earnings he can pay for school. His dream is to get his high school degree and to later continue in a professional career. He knows he’s only just begun, but he will fight to achieve his dreams.

Update 02/03/2017 : Valentijn 2017 is net achter de rug, dus vonden we het weer gepast om KIVA weer te ondersteunen, temeer omdat het op 08 maart ook nog eens Internationale vrouwendag is. We hebben uit de lijst van mogelijke leningen volgende vier projecten gekozen die we financieel een steuntje in de rug hebben gegeven.

Alisi – Siusega, Samoa

Alisi is a 50 year old mother with 5 children. She runs a business of selling fresh flowers in her community to earn a living. She has this experience for more than a year. Alisi requested for a loan to buy pot plants, chemicals, flowers(seedling), water tank, to help her run the business.

 

Agnes – Senegal

Agnès is a dynamic woman who is engaged in trade. She is an active member of the banc villageois with whom she has been a member since its first loan cycle. At 57 years old, she is married and the mother of five school-educated children. Agnès has been active in commerce through the sale of local juices and soft drinks for almost ten years.

 

Solange – Burkina Faso

Solange, a representative member, would like to thank all of Kiva’s staff and lenders for the support. With the loan, Solange was able to pay for beans, hibiscus flowers, and peanuts. She sold them at a profit which enabled her to pay for clothes for her children, to spend on her family and especially to grow her business.

 

Satou – Senegal

SATOU, appearing in the photo, is a widow and the mother of two girls. She has been active in processing grains for years. She has a workshop for this business in her village.

With her new loan, she intends to purchase some millet, corn, black-eyed peas, oseille [dried hibiscus flowers], and ‘monkey bread’ [the fruit of the baobab tree], which she will resell in her village and in the capital when processed.
